美国南卡罗莱纳州31岁女老师罗宾森(JeunelleRobinson)午休时间走在路上时，突然遭被撞倒的电线杆击中，导致重伤死亡，由于该木制电线杆已经使用多年、十分老旧，家属认为电力公司若是有定期检查就可以避免意外，气愤提告并求偿美元1亿元赔偿金。
事件23日发生在瓦格纳市(Wagener)，当时一辆重型货车不小心撞上附近电线，导致8根电线杆被拉起倒塌，在当地高中Wagener-SalleyHigh School任职的女老师罗宾森，午休过马路时刚好被其中一根电线杆击中。
目击者表示，当电线杆飞过来时，罗宾森虽然有注意到并试图躲开，但仍被电线杆整个压在身上。不幸事件为当地社区带来震撼，社区民众隔日为罗宾森举办追思活动，吸引许多人到场向她哀悼。
家属认为，倒塌的木制电线杆已经使用超过60年以上，导致木材严重腐烂，如果电力公司有定期维护或更换的话，今天就不会发生这样的惨案，决定向电力公司提出诉讼，除了要求美元1亿元赔偿金，以及投资美元2千万元改善当地电力设施，还要以罗宾森的名义创建价值美元1千万元的信托基金，每年为当地从事教职的大学生提供奖学金。
